Our Pastor
Albert L. Holden, Jr. is the oldest son born to Albert Sr. and Earline Holden. Elder Albert
Holden, Jr & his lovely wife Rhonda make their home together in Wilmington Delaware.
He is the proud father of Albert III, Ashton, Kimberly, Ivan and Priscilla. Elder Holden
presently serves as the full-time Pastor of New Pentecostal United Holy Church.
Elder Holden officially became a member of New Pentecostal United Holy Church of
America, Inc in 1974 and became saved in 1976. At New Pent, he has served as junior
deacon, usher, YPHA president, president of several of the choirs, van driver, Sunday
school teacher, member & overseer of the finance committee, also member & president
of the ministerial fellowship. Elder Holden served as the Financial Secretary as well as
President of the Delaware District YPHA. Albert’s undergraduate degree is from the
University of Delaware, which he attended from 1981 to 1985. He was recognized for his
numerous leadership efforts to improve the quality of life and cultural presence of “Black
“Students. He helped lead the fight which yielded the establishment of the Martin Luther
King, Jr. House. Albert served as President of the Black Students Union. Other activities
include his service on the Delaware Undergraduate Student Congress, Student
Representative to The Board of Provost & Trustees, Member of the Minority Student
Program Advisory Board, President of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Psi Zeta Chapter, 2nd
District Regional Undergraduate Representative of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, &
Treasurer for the University of Delaware Gospel Choir. Professionally while employed in
the Insurance and Real Estate Industry, Elder Holden has received numerous awards,
citations, distinguished commendations and promotions for his administrative expertise
and managerial leadership.
In 1985 during a sharp spiritual awakening and after accepting the Lord’s call upon his
life, Albert enrolled in the United Christian College and began to prepare for the ministry.
He has since completed and received a Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate in Theology.
October 18, 1992 Elder Holden gave his initial sermon and entered the ministry at New
Pentecostal, under the leadership of Dr. Louvenia Dickerson. Much of the early years of
ministry for Elder Holden were spent in “Prison Ministry”, the church behind the walls.
In 2003 he was Ordained as an Elder in the United Holy Church of America, Inc. and in
2005 Dr. Dickerson appointed him as the Associate Pastor of New Pentecostal UHCOA.
In 2008, the church voted him Pastor of New Pentecostal UHCOA. Currently, Elder Holden has
served since 1996 as an instructor for the United Christian College, Delaware Extension’ In 2011
Pastor Holden enrolled in Clinical Pastoral Education and successfully completed both a Chaplain
internship and residency , serving at Christiana Care Health Systems. Recently he has been
appointed to the Northern District Board of Presbytery. He is a member of the Board of Directors
for the Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware, Inc. and works diligently as a community
builder in the West Center City Neighborhood serving on several committees and other posts.
To quote the words of a favorite song, Elder Holden asks,” How can I say thanks for the things
you’ve done for me? Things so undeserved, yet you gave to prove your love to me. The voices of
a million angels, cannot express my gratitude. “All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe it all to thee.
just let me live my life, and let it be pleasing Lord to thee, and should I gain any praise let it go to Calvary! With his blood, he saved me. With His Power, He has raised me.
